FR // Formé en 2021 à Paris, Midscale s'élance depuis, avec intensité et émotions, dans une trajectoire introspective qui les mènent vers de puissants murs de sons auréolés de quelques moments plus contemplatifs. C'est ainsi que le 12 avril prochain, le quatuor dévoilera avec Movements un premier album de huit titres qui reflètent les difficultés de la vie moderne à travers des sonorités qui empruntent autant au shoegaze qu’au post rock.

Aspiration à la persévérance sur "Nothing", critique incisive du matraquage publicitaire sur "Peat", l’album explore également l'instabilité et le chaos sur "Bleeding in the Backseat". Les aspects les plus sombres de la dépression sont traduits en musique avec force dans l’imposante "Black in May" et de manière plus planante sur "Well", tandis que "Love" invite à la reconstruction de soi. Autant de sentiments qui ont inspiré l’artwork énigmatique réalisé par la photographe Sarah Hottiaux. Au-delà de la noirceur apparente des thèmes et des ambiances qui le traversent, Movements est avant tout une invitation au lâcher-prise à travers les compositions et l’épaisseur des morceaux, à l’image de "Lush", pièce instrumentale tout en crescendo qui se retrouve au cœur de l’album. Ce premier disque de Midscale accorde une place importante au pouvoir cathartique de la musique face aux tourments de l’existence.


EN // Formed in 2021 in Paris, Midscale has since embarked with intensity and emotion on an introspective journey leading them towards powerful walls of sound haloed by a few more contemplative moments. On April 12, the quartet will unveil Movements, an eight-track debut album that reflects the difficulties of modern life through music that borrows as much from shoegaze as from post-rock.

The album also explores instability and chaos on "Bleeding in the Backseat". The darker aspects of depression are forcefully translated into music on the imposing "Black in May" and, in a more soaring way, on "Well", while "Love" is a call to rebuild oneself. These are the feelings that inspired the enigmatic artwork by photographer Sarah Hottiaux. Beyond the apparent darkness of the themes and moods that run through it, Movements is above all an invitation to let go through the compositions and the thickness of the tracks, like "Lush", a crescendoing instrumental piece at the heart of the album. Midscale's debut album places great emphasis on the cathartic power of music in the face of life's torments.
